Dr. Deanna Hagge, Ph.D. Joins the Leprosy Mission International (TMLI) and American Leprosy Missions (ALM) Nepal Project Collaboration to Fight Leprosy (Hansen’s Disease)
(Greenville, SC—February 21, 2008) Dr. Deanna Hagge, Ph.D. has been appointed as Head of the Mycobacterial Research Laboratories at Anandaban Hospital in Nepal, just south of Katmandu. In addition to overseeing staff and research projects, she will collaborate with the Medical Superintendent and Medical Research Committee to design and conduct clinical components of research studies.
Dr. Hagge has extensive training in Hansen’s disease research. After earning her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University, she continued her training with the National Hansen’s Disease Program’s Immunology Department.
Dr. Hagge is honored to serve in Nepal, saying “With the background training God allowed me to receive, coming here to serve the international leprosy community alongside other ministers of Christ is a gift that will not be taken for granted.”
June Nash, Director of Human Resources for TLMI, sees Dr. Hagge’s arrival as a blessing. “Her addition to our staff in such a strategic role is a great answer to prayer,” she says.
