Commitment to Privacy
ALM securely manages all customer data in accordance with consumer data protection laws enacted worldwide, including data handling, storage and security.
When you make a donation, you need to provide your name, email address, credit card and billing information. This information allows us to process and fulfill your donation and to notify you of your donation status.
We may collect your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website. (An IP address is the unique number that is assigned to your computer automatically when you log onto the Internet.) We also use IP addresses to monitor visitor traffic patterns and site usage to help us further develop and improve the content and design of our site. We do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable about you.
A cookie is a piece of text that can be entered into the memory of your browser. Cookies are used so you don't have to re-enter information each time you visit a site. If you disable cookies then your information will not be saved and will have to be re-entered each time you visit the site. We do not store your credit card information--that information will have to be entered upon each donation. This site does not discriminate from the online contact information we collect with regard to age. Therefore, it is possible for children, without prior parental consent or parental notification, to submit contact information.
Credit Card Fraud Protection
Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank can not hold you liable for more than $50.00 of fraudulent charges. We guarantee that if your credit card was compromised, through no fault of your own, as a result of transactions completed at our site, and your credit card provider holds you liable for any charges, we will compensate you for the amount of your liability up to $50. This means we do not cover fraudulent charges if your card was lost or stolen. In the event of unauthorized credit card use, or if your card is lost or stolen, you must notify your credit card provider immediately in accordance with its reporting rules and procedures.
ALM takes every precaution to protect our donors' information. Information entered on our secure website donation page is protected by GeoTrust, the world's second-largest digital certificate provider. Personal information is always password protected and our databases are Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant, ensuring the highest level of privacy when credit card numbers are involved.
From time-to-time our site may request information from users via surveys. Participation is completely voluntary. Information requested may include demographic information (such as age and zip code). This information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.
Please remember that protection of your privacy begins with you. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any password you use to register, and you should always exercise caution whenever disclosing information online.
