Airlift: Africa Takes Off

Shipment of essential medicines and medical supplies arrives at Lisala Hospital in the DR Congo.

This summer, $2.6 million of medicine and medical supplies, donated by our long-time partner MAP International, arrived in the DR Congo in Africa. The air shipment of 90 medical mission packs full of essential medicines went to the northern part of the DR Congo where American Leprosy Missions has worked for many years.

Half of the Airlift: Africa shipment went to church-supported health clinics and the other half went to Lisala Hospital. Before these medicines arrived, the Lisala Hospital pharmacy was completely empty. Now patients can fill their prescriptions right at the hospital. Dr. Donat Mbombo from the hospital says, “The population of Lisala thanks American Leprosy Missions for this gift. May God bless you for the love that you have shown for these people and the lives you have saved.”
