American Leprosy Missions Celebrates Grand Opening of First Thrift Store
Mission Thrift Proceeds to Benefit People Affected by Leprosy and Related Diseases
American Leprosy Missions is delighted to announce the grand opening of its first thrift store, Mission Thrift, located at 300 South Polk Street in Pineville, North Carolina. The 10,000-square-foot store will open on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 9:00 am.
“We are thrilled to be launching the Mission Thrift brand and opening up our first thrift store,” said Bill Simmons, president and CEO of American Leprosy Missions. “The proceeds from Mission Thrift purchases and donations will provide treatment, care, hope and dignity to people suffering from leprosy and related diseases around the world. We look forward to extending the impact of our ministry through this new endeavor.”
Mission Thrift will feature gently used, high-quality furniture, housewares, toys, books, and clothing for men, women and children. All proceeds will benefit the global ministry of American Leprosy Missions to people affected by leprosy and related diseases.
For more than 100 years, American Leprosy Missions has worked around the world to cure and care for people suffering from leprosy. Every two minutes someone is diagnosed with this disabling disease. It destroys nerves and can cause deformities and blindness. People affected by leprosy are often shunned and isolated.
Purchases and donations will help provide medical treatment and training, community development, Christian outreach and more. For example, $15 in proceeds will provide special shoes to protect the nerve-damaged feet of a person affected by leprosy, and one bag of donated goods will cure three people suffering from leprosy.
The Mission Thrift store will be open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The donation center will be open Monday through Saturday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Free donation pick ups are available by calling 866-843-1535 or online at www.missionthrift.org.
